About Skegness Photos Gallery
A record Skegness history, past and present, in pictures.
The gallery is divided into two:
Old Skegness Photos -
documents including old Skegness newspapers, vintage Skegness holiday guides, entertainment programmes and the official Skegness Guide as published by the Skegness Urban District Council in 1909.
I am indepted to Mr Herbert Noel Crawshaw who has purchased many old Skegness postcards especially for this gallery ( and sent us the hard copies). Mr Crawshaw is the son of Joseph Crawshaw, four times Mayor of Skegness, and the grandson of Joseph Crawshaw, a founder member of the Skegness Local Board which was formed in 1884.
I am also indepted to the Mayor of Skegness 2006-2007, Coun Phil Kemp who has supplied many images for inclusion in this gallery.
If the original photographer has been credited on the postcards or in the old documents, then I have included the credit in the image description.
My collection of Skegness memorabilia, newspapers and postcards, photos of which I am adding to this gallery, will be donated to the Skegness Museum.
Recent Skegness Photos:
These have been taken mainly by myself, many from priviledged press and TV crew positions, as a voluntary citizen photojournalist in Skegness.
I would like to express thanks to local photojournalist and professional Skegness photographer, Paul Gooch, who has donated his collection of press photographs taken for the Skegness Standard and Skegness Target local newspapers for inclusion in this gallery, and consequently freely sharing them with the people of Skegness and ofcourse the wider audience of the internet.
Thanks go also to the many visitors of my websites who have sent me their pictures for inclusion in this gallery. Each is credited in the image description.
Don't forget to subscribe to our Skegness Photos RSS feed to be notified immediately a new photo is uploaded (link at the top of the page).

Photos of our collection of Skegness Memorabilia.
We are lucky enough to have in our collection several official Skegness Guides and Holidaygrams as published by the Council. The earliest we have is the 1910-1911 Guide to Skegness, which was published in 1909. The guides include old advertisments, which we have filed under 'Old Adverts' on the main category sections, and pictures which are filed in the 'Old Photos' section. Images of the guide text are in this Memorabilia section, filed under 'Guides and Holidaygrams'.
Have YOU any Skegness Memorabilia? Why don't you snap a picture and upload it to our album? It's easy, but you have to register first!

'Scarecrow Week' is a tradition in many rural Lincolnshire villages, the custom connected with Lincolnshire being an argricultural county.
The scarecrows pop up in the most amusing places sometimes, here are some which we spotted.

My own Sheffield
family tree is directly connected to the Houghton, Fowler and Curtis families of Skegness.
Charles Houghton
b1932 d1917, member of the first Local Board in Skegness, formed in 1884, is my sons' 4X Great Uncle.
John Curtis b1856 who built the Clock Tower is my sons' Great Great Grandfather.
For this reason, I have created this separate 'Sheffield Connection' category to house the family tree members from Sheffield.
